Jancy Jaslow : Artist's Statement

I am attracted to organic patterns and textures in nature. 

I collect leaves, natural materials and patterns to impress in my individually created patchwork pots. 

Each piece is a reflection of my background in needlework, interest in nature, and love of clay. Two pots are required for each functional ‘pot-within-a-pot.’ I arrange textured clay pieces in individual, recyclable wheel-thrown clay molds to create each pot I really want. 

In this process the textures are distinct, yet unified in each form I create.
